Board meetings are on the UMCS School Calendar. The Board will meet for a total of 10 Regular Meetings from July 1, 2024 - June 30, 2025. Calendar of Board and Committee Meetings. Meetings are held at school in the Head of School's office, and can be moved to the nearby Sun Room to accommodate more people as needed. Any exceptions to the regular schedule are announced through the UMCS School Calendar and on BoardOnTrack, both of which are accessible here on the UMCS website.

  • Academic Oversight committee meets at 11:30am on the second Tuesday of the month.
  • Finance committee meets at 3:00pm Thursday the week before a Regular Board meeting.
  • Executive & Governance committee meets at 1:15pm Monday the week before a Regular Board meeting.

Special Assistance: In compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and upon request, if you need special assistance to participate in this meeting, including interpreter services, please contact Daniel Bissonnette, Head of School, at 510-842-1181 or daniel@urbanmontessori.org as early as possible prior, but at least 72 hours before, the scheduled Board meeting. Times for meetings indicated are estimates and may change at the Board's discretion.

    All Board meetings are open to the public. Email amyn@urbanmontessori.org to request an item be placed on a future agenda.

    Per bylaws, new members are nominated by existing members and approved by a majority of a quorum of the Board. This may take place at any properly noticed meeting of the Board throughout the year. Per bylaws, two Board members are elected by the Family Advisory Council. We are always looking for new Board members!
